New to the world of vaping? It’s all a bit confusing at first, so here’s all you need to know to get started, and a quick guide to what all the jargon means...
It's a handheld gadget that lets you inhale nicotine as a vapour rather than smoke. Unlike cigarettes, it doesn't burn tobacco, or produce tar and carbon monoxide - the main two things that do damage to your body. It's also known as an e-cigarette, e-cig or vape.
You fill the e-cig with a solution called 'e-liquid' (see more on that below) which soaks into a built-in wick that has a metal coil wrapped around it. Then, you press a button that quickly heats up the coil, making the wick release a vapour that you can inhale.
There are typically three types:
Cigalikes look a bit like tobacco cigarettes, but with small batteries, and tiny cartridges to store e-liquid. Vape pens are shaped like a pen with a narrow tube to store e-liquid, and longer-lasting batteries than cigalikes.
These are the biggest e-cig devices, with longer-lasting batteries and bigger tanks for the e-liquid.
Pod Systems are essentially the middle-ground between a vape pen and a Vape Mod, primarily used to inhale nicotine salts.
It's all about how much you smoke. Cigalike or vape pens are enough for light smokers, but mods are better if you're a Vape enthusiast as they have a longer battery life. POD System, however, are better if you are a heavy smoker who wants to quit, primarily used for nicotine salt as the delivery system gives you a quicker, stronger and more satisfying nicotine hit.
This is the most popular solution used in vaping, which typically contains nicotine, water, propylene glycol (PG) and/or vegetable glycerine (VG), and flavourings. The TPD bit stands for Tobacco Products Directive, which limits bottles to 10ml each. Let’s have a closer look at the ingredients...

Good old H2O is the base ingredient of the solution, making the e-liquid easy to be absorbed by the wick in the e-cig.
A tasteless, colourless alcohol. It’s thin and runny, so it gets absorbed by the wick quicker and doesn’t last as long as VG. It produces a stronger throat-hit than VG, similar to tobacco cigarette
A sweet alcohol which is non-toxic and safe to eat. It’s used in cough syrups, beauty creams and food flavourings. It’s thicker than PG, so lasts much longer when vaped. It’s smoother to vape and also produces big thick clouds. A downside is that gunk builds up quickly, so your e-cig needs cleaning often.
This is what gives e-liquid its taste. We offer 6 fruity flavours.
Nicotine salts contain a stronger dose of nicotine than traditional e-liquids (11mg & 20mg), and they’re absorbed into the body quicker too, so they’re a great choice for recent smokers who’ve just made the switch to vaping. These have a 50/50 mix of VG and PG.
Shop Nic SaltsA Shortfill is a type of e-liquid without any nicotine in. Because there’s no nicotine, you can buy shortfills in much bigger bottles (60ml bottles with 50ml of liquid in), and then add your own 10ml nicotine shot in separately. This tends to be the cheapest way to vape.
Shop Shortfill50:50 e-liquids are made up of 50% VG and 50% PG. This combination provides vapers with a versatile e-liquid that can be used in a range of devices to provide both an MTL (mouth to lung) hit and also a DTL (direct lung) inhalation hit.
Shop 50/50When starting off, we recommend trying 3mg of nicotine and then building the strength if you feel the need to.
